Fedora 15 released with GNOME 3



Good news for Fedora lovers that the Fedora 15 has been released with GNOME 3 that provides the modern desktop with many new features.





It has the following features.

  • Access application faster.
  • Easier window management.
  • Create workspace.
  • Deeper hardware integration.
  • Application based window management.
Fedora 15 includes a redesigned and better version of powertop and newer versions of tuned and pm-utils for better power management. The tuned package contains a daemon that tunes system setting dynamically to balance between power consumption and performance. It also performs various kernel according to selected profile. The new version of tuned brings several bug fixes, improvements and profiles updates for better efficiency.

Wine 1.3.20 released

The new version of Wine 1.3.20 has been released. The main feature of this version is the option to clip the mouse inside fullscreen windows.



There are some new features in this release
  • Support for persistent HTTP connections.
  • Initial implementation of the XML writer.
  • Support for drawing rectangles in the DIB engine.
  • Volume control in MMDevAPI.
  • More MSVC runtime functions.
  • Various bug fixes.
The source is available now. Binary packages are in the process of being built, and will appear soon at their respective download locations.

MiniTube is very useful YouTube player that shows the YouTubr videos without using a browser. And the other interesting features is that it also allows you to download the YouTube videos in HD quality.





In Ubuntu, Linux Mint and Debian sudo apt-get install minitube. In OpenSuse zypper install minitube and in Fedora yum install minitube.

Virtual Box 4.0.8 released with 3D support for GNOME 3


VirtualBox is a general purpose virtualizer for x86 hardware for server, desktop and embedded use.

The Oracle announce the release of VirtualBox 4.0.8. This version introduced many bug fixes carried with 3D support for GNOME3. The release fixes a potential crash when resizing the guest window.It also support GNOME3 under Ubuntu 11.04 and Fedora 15.
Note that Oracle acquired VirtualBox from Sun Microsystem.

Angry Birds in Linux.....

There is good news for the Angry Birds lover. Now Angry Birds available for linux using google chrome browser.This is the beta version of the Angry Birds.







According to Rovio press release, "This is only beta release of the game, and so far we have 63 levels of the original game available, with an additional 7 special Chrome levels! We are working on bringing more levels to Chrome, and planning on making the Mighty Eagle available as an in-app purchase opton."

The Document Foundation has announced the release of the 4th Beta version 3.4 of the open source LibreOffice office suite.The standard version of LibreOffice 3.4 released on 31 may,2011.




LibreOffice 3.4 Beta 4 contain GUI libraries, the Calc spreadsheet program and the impress presentation manager.LibreOffice 3.4 Beta 4 is available to download for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.The latest stable release of LibreOffice 3.3.2.
